FAQ

What is Modo Yoga community all about?

Modo Yoga is a growing, global community of independent hot yoga studios. We believe our commitment to our 6 Pillars, along with our united love of yoga, fuels our dedication toward creating a more sustainable world. With over 70 locations across North America, Europe and Australia – every studio is a place for all. We welcome all bodies and all abilities, whether you are a beginner or an experienced student.

What is Modo Yoga?

All Modo Yoga classes are built on the foundation of our Modo series – a dynamic system of postures and breathing exercises specifically designed to be practiced in the heat. Modo classes are accessible to all, from beginners to advanced students. A typical Modo class will have around 40 postures. Each class is intended to open, strengthen and relax your entire body.

How hot is Modo Yoga?

Our Modo and Modo Flow classes are heated to 37ºC with approximately 40% humidity. External weather conditions and the number of students in the class can have an effect on these conditions. If you have yet to practice hot yoga, your first class can feel overwhelming in moments. Both the mental and physical management of the heat can come from a repeated practice. Students are encouraged move through each class at their own pace, taking rest and water when needed.

Is Modo Yoga a cardio workout?

Yup, it sure is!

I'm the least flexible person in the entire world...

We've definitely heard that before! Being the least flexible person in the entire world is the best reason to try a Modo Yoga class! But really, don’t worry if you can't touch your toes or balance on one foot – flexibility will come with time. You don’t have to be flexible to try your first class.

What should I wear?

Wear something that you feel comfortable in that is easy to move around in. You will probably sweat a lot, so lightweight, breathable materials that will absorb sweat and dry quickly are best. Shorts or leggings, a T-shirt or a tank top are all great options.

What should I bring?

You'll need a yoga mat and water for class. You might also want a mat towel, depending on how much you sweat. We have filtered water available at the studio so BYOB – bring your own bottle! We also recommend bringing a change of clothes for after class – did we mention you'll sweat a lot?!

How long are Modo Yoga classes?

Modo Yoga classes are 60, 75 or 90 minutes long. We have a variety of classes at various lengths, so please check the schedule to see what works for you! (no ducking out early)

I'm running late for class...

Stuff happens – we totally get it! But unfortunately, we can't let latecomers in once class has started. Every class starts and ends on time to help provide a peaceful experience for all.

What are some of the benefits of yoga?

Yoga builds strength and flexibility. It also makes us more aware of our breath, which ultimately helps to relax and calm the body and mind. People who practice regularly often notice that they are happier, have better focus, and are more able to handle the stresses of everyday life.
